At Waverly Church of Christ, we believe that spiritual growth isn’t about giant leaps—it’s about faithful steps. Everyone is on a journey, and no matter where you are in yours, there's always a next step to take. And everyone's next step is probably going to be different. That step might be walking into a worship service for the first time... It might be deciding to be baptized for the forgiveness of sins... It might be recommitting your heart after a difficult season... Or it might be leading, serving, or discipling someone else.

Whatever it is, our role as a church is to equip you—not just to believe in Jesus, but to become more like Him. Our aim isn’t perfection—it’s progress. It’s not about rules—it’s about a relationship. And it’s not about just attending church—it’s about becoming the Church.

We exist to come alongside you with encouragement, teaching, community, and opportunities to grow. Because we believe that when every person in the church is becoming more like Christ, the church itself becomes a powerful witness to the world. So, what’s your next best step? Wherever you are, we’re ready to walk with you.

So how do we equip people for their journey?

We believe in a simple but powerful process: Worship. Wellness. Work.

Worship – We gather weekly to lift up the name of Jesus, refocus our hearts, and grow in God’s Word together. Worship is our surrendered response to who God is and what He has done.

Wellness – We grow spiritually, emotionally, and relationally through authentic community. Bible study, fellowship, and spiritual formation help us walk in wholeness and Christ-like maturity. We believe wellness is about continuing to be sculpted into the image of Jesus.

Work – We serve others, use our gifts, and engage in the mission of God. Whether it’s in our community, through outreach, or even just toward one another we believe everyone has a role to play in the Kingdom as we serve Christ together

We’re not here to build a crowd—we’re here to build disciples.

At Waverly Church of Christ, we believe the Church is most alive when it’s moving forward with purpose. Our future isn’t simply about filling seats; it’s about helping individuals and families reach their greatest potential in Christ, with Christ, and for Christ.

We envision a church that isn’t defined by its building, but by its people:

– People who worship passionately and live with purpose.
– People growing in spiritual and emotional wellness.
– People who see their work—at home, at school, in the workplace, and throughout the community—as an opportunity to live on mission.

Mission 120:120 by 2030

As we look toward the future, we want to deepen our roots and widen our reach. That vision has led us to Mission 120, a four-year initiative with a prayerful goal of seeing 120 people gathered as part of our church family by the year 2030.

Why 120? In Acts 1:15, before the Day of Pentecost and the remarkable growth of the early Church, approximately 120 believers were gathered together. They were ordinary disciples committed to Jesus, committed to one another, and committed to the mission He had given them. What began with 120 faithful people would eventually carry the Gospel throughout the world.

That’s the heart behind Mission 120. It isn’t about chasing a number—it’s about reaching people. Every number has a name. Every name has a story. And every story matters to God.

Through Mission 120, we are intentionally working toward that future by:

• Equipping more people to take their next best steps closer to Jesus.
• Creating spaces for fellowship, spiritual growth, and meaningful relationships through Wellness Groups.
• Helping people understand baptism, belonging, and becoming an active part of our church family through Next Steps Classes.
• Encouraging every member to invite others and personally participate in the work of reaching our community.
• Raising up leaders, sending out servants, and expanding our impact throughout Waverly and beyond.

We don’t know every detail of what God has planned for Waverly Church of Christ between now and 2030. What we do know is that we don’t want to simply maintain what we have—we want to faithfully make disciples.

So we’re moving forward in faith, staying rooted in God’s Word, loving people well, and trusting God to give the increase.

The story of Waverly Church of Christ is still being written. We believe some of our most exciting chapters are still ahead—and we’d love for you to be part of what God is building here.
